Carol Speargas, Counselor

Retiring in 2012 from a successful career in the Intelligence Community and walking through her own significant issues, Carol set about pursuing her lifelong calling to biblical counseling. After receiving a Master of Divinity from Faith Theological Seminary in Baltimore in 2017 and completing the biblical counseling certificates through Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) in 2018, Carol began a new season devoted to caring for those who need someone to come alongside them in their own journey. Her desire is to see Christ heal and restore hearts through the counseling relationship, as she compassionately and wisely holds the stories she hears.

Carol’s areas of focus include anxiety, depression, recovery from divorce, domestic abuse, loss and grief, identity struggles, singleness, relational difficulties, church hurts, and trauma.

Carol has personally walked through her own divorce and the death of her second husband to cancer. Currently single, Carol delights in helping others process their stories, encouraging clients toward a living faith that embraces a relationship with Christ while giving space to process all the emotions. Carol offers both in-person and virtual counseling.

When she isn’t counseling, Carol delights in teaching Bible studies at her church, hiking, biking, traveling to national parks and wildlife refuges, birdwatching, and playing pickleball. She lives in Gambrills, Maryland with her four cats and loves to spend time with her amazing son, gifted daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren who live in Northern Virginia.
