Edward Ruiz, Counselor

Edward has a mission of providing clinically informed counseling from a Biblical counseling worldview.  The long-term aim and vision, however, is to help see lives transformed by the power of the gospel.  This is done by walking alongside children, adolescents, couples, singles and families who face hardship and difficulty, suffering and pain on this side of heaven, and extending comfort and care that comes from Christ.

Edward specializes in working with the family so he will meet with parents, couples, and children of all ages whereby he helps address any problem under the sun. As a core conviction that the Bible provides sufficient wisdom and guidance to help us in our time of need, he welcomes all who come to him for support. Edward also believes it is important to network with various providers and individuals in the community where pertinent and even necessary (i.e. schools, rehab clinics, CPS, etc.).

Edward began his graduate studies in Mental Health Counseling in 2012, graduating from Nyack's Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in Nyack, NY. He is licensed in Connecticut and Maryland and is a board-certified counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors.

Just before meeting his now late wife, Heidi, he was ordained as a deacon with Alexandria Presbyterian Church in 2011.  He and Heidi were married just shy of eight years and worshiped at Grace Church Stamford for about 9 years.  Edward relocated to Maryland in December 2021 with his two dogs, Jagger and Mowgli.

Edward will begin seminary at Metro-Baltimore Seminary in the summer of ’22 pursuing the Pastoral Ministry track. In his free time he enjoys cycling and being with family and friends. He also loves reading and writing so if you’re interested in receiving his weekly newsletters, you can sign-up HERE.

Edward offers exclusively virtual counseling.
