A Series of Free Workshops Offered by Life Counseling Center Ministries

This year Life Counseling Center is excited to be offering a series of one-hour workshops on various topics related to counseling and mental health.

The series will be led by our counseling team and will provide opportunity for you to engage, ask questions, and learn more about the topics presented. All talks will be held at our Chapelgate location in room 108. They are free but registration is required. Talks this year will include the following:

Let’s Talk About…

Counseling– How is counseling different than a really good friendship? When do I need counseling? What kind of counseling should I consider? What is biblical counseling? Do my children need counseling? When is marriage counseling a good idea? These questions and many more will be the subject of our time together. Let’s Talk About Counseling will be held on Thursday , February 28th at 6 pm.

Let’s Talk About...

My Child and Mental Health– When does my child need a counselor? Is medication wise for children? Help me understand common childhood diagnosis like ADD/ADHD, Autism, and more. Will my child grow out of their mental health challenges? April 11th at 6 pm.

Let’ts Talk About…

Relationship Help and Communication Skills– What can I do to improve my relationship with my family members? What if I am the only one who wants help? What can I do to improve communication in my relationships with my spouse, kids, friends, and family? What am I doing that might be hurting relationships in my life? June 27th at 6 pm.

Let’s Talk About…

Helping Children Regulate Stress and Emotions– How can I help my child manage school stress and pressure? What are helpful responses to outbursts of emotions? What things can help calm my anxious child? How can I help my child navigate the emotional strain of puberty? What help is there for parents who are overwhelmed by their child’s emotional needs? August 22nd at 6 pm.

Let’s Talk About…

Depression and Suicide– What is depression? Is my friend or family member suicidal if they are depressed? When do I need to get others involved? How can I manage depression in a way that honors the Lord? What are signs of suicide? How can the church help those who are suicidal? October 24th at 6 pm.

Let’s Talk About…

Diagnosis, Disorders, and Medication– What does it mean to have a psychiatric diagnosis? Is medication a bad idea or even a sin? What do I need to know about medication? What does the Bible say about mental health? Do I need to see a psychiatrist? What is the DSM? December 12th at 6 pm.
