It Might Be Time To Talk

Before they graduate high school 93% of boys and 62% of girls will have been involved in viewing pornography.

These numbers are valid for churched teens as well as non-churched. The question is… how are so many kids exposed to it?

Snapchat, Anime, Instagram, texting, Netflix, and Twitter are just a few of the numerous ways that our kids are able to access porn at the touch of a button. It only takes an second.

It is not unusual for boys to receive “nudes” (naked pictures) from girls.

It is common for kids to follow pornographic links on social media.

It typical for girls to spend hours watching shows with graphic sexual content.

It may be a scary reality but these things are the norm. Do you know what your kids watch? Do you know who your kids follow on social media? Do you look at what apps your kids have on their phone or tablet? Do you research what your kids invest their time in? This is part of parenting this generation.

Is it time for you to have a conversation with your child? Does the thought of even approaching that conversation scare you? You are not alone and we want to help.

Life Counseling Center will be hosting a workshop titled PG-13 Cultivating Pure Hearts in Sex Saturated World. The workshop will discuss this and so much more. We want to help you talk with your teens in a way that builds relationship and encourages openness. If you are a parent of teens or preteens you do not want to miss this workshop.
