Suffering is having what we don’t want or wanting what we don’t have.
Do you suffer? I do. Do you suffer alone? You have hope. Jesus calls us to share our suffering with Him. His living word calls us to faith and wisdom and truth.
I am facing a second spinal fusion surgery in 4 years. I cannot lift more than a gallon of milk, or walk our neighborhood with my wife Janet. I need to lay on ice and rest from pain after washing dishes. I am afraid. I remember the first surgery. Anxious thoughts ask if I will need a third after this next one.
I need help to find hope. I am desperate for healing and grasping for courage to enter the battle of surgery and pain required to heal. The second time is a mountain. The climb requires endurance, opting out of a normal life to suffer and utterly depend on others.
By sharing in relationship with another Christ follower who knows me – my faith walk, my failings and my suffering circumstance – their love for Christ inhabits my heart as they hear my struggle, and pray, reminding me of God’s grace and promises.
The counselor prayed my fears would be surrounded with God’s presence and as I planted the ladder of my journey against the strong tower of God’s own making, He would be with me to climb step by step through surgery to healing. (Proverbs 18:10).
Hearing another pray that image, brought hope to my heart and encouraged faith. God is my strong tower and will be with me. He prayed where I could only groan.
At Life Counseling Center Ministries you will find Christ followers offering hope. You are not alone. Our counselors are equipped to join with you and offer biblical wisdom and prayer and the hope of God’s healing, renewal, and peace.
